Symbolic Masks


Creation of masks inspired by archetypes – for children aged 6 to 10
Condensed format: two half-days of three hours each

An immersive workshop where each child creates a totem mask based on a personal, real or imaginary archetype.
This process blends imagination, handcrafting, symbolic expression and a collective ritual.

Learning objectives
Discover and explore the language of archetypes (animals, elements, mythical figures, etc.)
Stimulate personal creativity through materials and symbols
Experiment with a variety of textures and mixed techniques
Express oneself through storytelling, gesture, and the final presentation
Experience an artistic and sensitive moment in a caring environment

Workshop outline – total 6 hours
Day 1 – 3 hours: Introduction to archetypes through a playful and visual presentation. Personal choice of totem or inspirational figure. Sketching, setting an intention, selecting materials. Beginning to customise the masks.
Day 2 – 3 hours: Finishing the masks – adding textures, painting, final details. Staging: each child presents themselves through their mask. Collective closing ritual in a circle, with storytelling and sharing.

Materials provided
Venetian mask bases in papier-mâché or rigid plastic. Leather, raw fabrics, strings, recycled paper, paint, glue, natural elements. All materials carefully selected, age-appropriate and safe. Each child leaves with their mask-talisman, carrying a personal intention.

Facilitation
Workshop led by Madame Qu.Antique – Nadia Besomi, multidisciplinary artist (tattooing, visual creation, stage performance). Intuitive, symbolic and inclusive approach. Over twenty years of experience in creation, working with people, and unique artistic projects.

Rate
Two half-days, materials included: €300 incl. VAT. Travel costs beyond 30 km: €0.50/km. Invoicing through micro-entreprise. The rate includes preparation, facilitation, materials, and finalisation.

Suitable for
Leisure centres, media libraries, primary schools, cultural or artistic festivals, one-off events with an educational or symbolic purpose.

What makes this workshop unique
No imposed model: each mask is an intuitive creation. A ritual and narrative dimension rarely found in standard workshops. Raw and aesthetic materials that nourish the imagination. A moment of sharing, listening, and symbolic transformation.
